This seminar series will be completed over 3 evening sessions.

The viral and interactive nature of social networking sites can be a powerful marketing tool for your business. Currently, there are over 16 million Canadians on Facebook. Millions more use Twitter.

Online social networks facilitate connections between people based on shared interests, values, membership in particular groups (i.e., friends, professional colleagues), etc. They make it easier for people to find and communicate with individuals who are in their networks, using the Web as the interface.

With the correct strategy and tools, utilizing social media can lead to increased sales, more satisfied customers, and higher brand awareness.

This course will show you how to utilize some of the major tools in social media with a focus on best practices and efficient use. You will learn how to use social media to extend the reach of your business, and how these strategies can help you expand into larger markets.

Whether your goal is to increase traffic to your website, or just communicate a message, this seminar is designed to empower your business and your message through the use of powerful social networking tools.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to measure and track your social media, post media like pictures and video to clarify your message, and link to different types of social media.

With Facebook, you will learn how to create accounts and picture galleries, create and use fan or business pages, create and use groups, and launch events.

With Twitter, you will learn how to post, and link Twitter with other established social networking sites.

We will also touch on other social media like Youtube, Flickr, and LinkedIn.

Users should have a relative understanding of Microsoft Windows or Mac computers and be familiar with browsing websites and the internet.

LET THEM BE KIDS Providence Bay Beach Playground Project

Recently, the LET THEM BE KIDS foundation granted the Providence Bay Beach Playground Project a 50/50 matching grant toward their project.


Providence Bay Beach is a treasured playground area within the town of Providence Bay. It is in need of revitalization and a playground upgrade to create a space that all generations can gather and socialize.

The BIG NEWS: The Providence Bay & Spring Bay Lions Club has been granted a NATIONAL LET THEM BE KIDS HELPING HANDS AWARD! The award provides a 50/50 matching grant towards the purchase of playground equipment. For every 50 cents they raise, they will receive $1.00 in buying power.

THE ACTIVITY - In one day volunteers will build the playground structures, and revitalize the related playground structures.

THE IMPACT - Active  participation in the community that develops pride and ownership. An opportunity for all members of the community to connect through outdoor recreational opportunities.
